Smart Cockpit

Your daily briefing: the KPIs you chose, their trend and an executive summary.

In short

The Smart Cockpit is your daily briefing: the KPIs you chose, their trend, a short AI insight on each, and an executive summary. You pick up to 6 KPIs and the period to show for each. It is refreshed every day, after the KPIs are computed.

Today's briefing

The Today's Briefing page shows:

  • Key Performance Indicators: the value of each chosen KPI for its period, with its trend line;
  • an AI Insight under each KPI, which you can show or hide;
  • the AI Executive Summary: a short summary of all your KPIs, its key points, and an overall tone (positive, negative or neutral);
  • Relevant News & Updates, when your organization provides them.

Refresh Data starts a new computation, if your role allows it.

Choosing your KPIs

In Smart Cockpit Settings:

  • choose up to 6 KPIs;
  • set the period of each one, for example the current month or the last 90 days;
  • arrange their order.

You can only choose KPIs on which your team has the Smart Cockpit right. See KPIs in the Smart Cockpit.

AI insights

Each insight is one to three sentences about what a KPI's trend reveals.

  • It is written from the KPI's values and trend line over the chosen period.
  • It describes the story in words and does not repeat the numbers: you already see them above it.

The executive summary

The summary brings your KPIs together in a few lines, for a quick read before a meeting.

  • It is built from the KPIs and periods you selected.
  • It is updated every day, after the KPIs and insights.
  • Like every AI text in Northstar, it is grounded in your governed KPIs. Open a KPI to see its dataset and definition.

FAQ

Why is a KPI missing from my settings? Your team does not have the Smart Cockpit right on it, or you cannot see it. Ask its owner.

Why does my summary talk about KPIs I removed? The summary was built before your change. Regenerate the Smart Cockpit, or wait for the next daily update.

Do my colleagues see my cockpit? No. Each person chooses their own KPIs and periods.
